Situated 100 kilometers west of Santiago, in the resort of San Alfonso del Mar (San Alfonso del Mar resort), swimming pool stretches to a length of 1 km, covering an area of 8 hectares. In order to fill it up to 2.5 million liters of water which is delivered from the Pacific Ocean. Guinness World Records has recognized this huge construction the largest swimming pool in the world. Construction of the facility at a cost of $ 1.5 billion. The decision to build a swimming pool was taken due to contamination of the ocean and a large number of sharks off the coast.
